Bushfires generally occur around Australia due to the hot and dry weather which presents perfect conditions for bushfires. Some bushfire areas in Australia are Western Australia due to the scorching weather. But there are certain seasons where the climate makes some regions further vulnerable to bushfires this is termed bushfire season. Most people think that bushfires are all bad but some native flora depend on bushfires to survive. More than 50,000 bushfires occurred in Australia each year over a decade to 2005-06, a recent report has found. Of those fires, the Australian Institute of Criminology estimated approximately 30 percent were either deliberately lit (arson) or suspiciously lit.
What seasons are Bushfire seasons?
Bushfire season is frequently during the summer time as that is when the weather is at it's best to suit bushfires. This is because the atmosphere is hot and dry, the ideal weather conditions for a bushfire. Summertime in Australia is throughout December-February throughout these months many bushfires breakout in urban areas burning many houses in it's path.
What should you do during Bushfire season to prevent bushfires?
To make sure no bushfires break out in your community you should always be wary with what you do and be very alert when igniting any variety of fires outside as there would be many fine fuels in your backyard, so before lighting a fire sweep away any leaves and clean up all the dry inert grass in your backyard. Also, make sure to keep your grass at a maximum of 6 cm and no longer than ten centimetres. If a bushfire does occur make sure you have home insurance due to the fact that if a bushfire does occur than your house would burn down and if you didn't have house insurance than it would cost a large sum of money to fix.
